Los Angeles, CA Reclaimed Wood Garage Door & European Shutters

Los Angeles, CA - No detail was spared on this custom European country home located in Long Beach, CA. Every single details of the home involves authentic salvaged architectural materials and elements that you would only find by traveling though the Old World European countries along the Mediterranean. Reclaimed barn lumber was used throughout the entire property as well as salvaged architectural elements such as rustic iron hardware, some of the doors and garden gates that were at one point imported from Europe and slowly collected by the client over the years just for this custom home build.

Dynamic Garage Door was commissioned in the early stages of the project to weigh in on ideas for the custom garage door, salvaged architectural garden gates and decorative window shutters. The whole project was tastefully done with intricate detailing every step of the way. One of the custom side gates we were able to reproduce with custom-made architectural hardware designed and crafted by our in-house craftsmen and designers. This is the kind of project that emphasizes our design expertise, experience and knowledge of historical European architectural doors and passage ways. With our custom designed reclaimed barn wood garage door, exquisitely handcrafted window shutters and gate retrofitting, the home's essence is exhausting enough to pinpoint every detail, it is best to take it in as a whole and enjoy the views throughout!

The barn wood garage door was designed in a simple barn style configuration with basic stile and rail trim pieces beautifully backed with tongue and grooved reclaimed wood slats. To ensure proper coloration of the silvers on the reclaimed wood, each piece was hand-selected from a large salvaged barn wood lot that came off a centuries old barn.  Furthermore, a solid reclaimed beam was used to crown the top of the custom garage door opening accentuating the beautiful natural details of the aged wood we used on the rustic style garage door. The beauty of using reclaimed wood on rustic projects such as this is the final reveal that showcases the beauty of nature's touch on wood that has been exposed to the elements for hundreds of years. It is also a wonderful way of salvaging materials that would otherwise be wasted. Additionally, reclaiming wood from old buildings and barns is helpful in slowing down deforestation throughout the world and perhaps one day completely stop deforestation. So you could say quite proudly that reclaimed wood garage doors and projects involving these materials are eco-friendly too!

As you look at every windows surrounding the home you'll notice that the windows themselves were imported from Europe and the quality is highly evident just at a glance. To parallel that beauty and high quality craftsmanship we designed and handcrafted beautiful rustic shutters that would complement all the European charm that was put into the home throughout its entirety. The custom shutters feature a rustic European style with a gorgeous deep blue milk stain on the hand wire-brushed cedar and decorative hardware. The thickness of the shutters is just right for the application making them seem functional instead of just some aftermarket add-on that simply wouldn't justify the architectural beauty of this  home. Every custom shutter was appropriately equipped with hand-forged hinge straps and respective shutter dog. Take a look at the images in this custom European home gallery and try to keep on eye on every detail!

Part of this project included retrofitting two authentic Old World European garden gates. One of the gates was a handcrafted iron gate that looks simple and perhaps not like a big deal. Looking closely, in person, you will notice that no welding was used to put the gate designs together as there was no welding back in those days. The entire gate is exquisitely put together by hand with bent iron strips that hold everything in place. One of our in-house blacksmiths was amazed when he saw the decorative iron gate and pointed this detail out to our designers and, of course, everyone was mesmerized and appreciative of the beautiful iron gate. The other reclaimed gate was a basic wood slatted gate, it has the aged beauty marks found in rustic homes throughout Europe. You can see all the nail holes and how the excess tip of each nail was bent over on the back to secure the slats together. We sourced out an authentic French style lever locking mechanism that is surface mounted just like in historical European doors. Yes, it also has a proper skeleton key to lock the gate. To the untrained eye, these gates might look simple or lackluster but to the savvy architectural connoisseur it is eye candy up and down!

The third element we were involved in was the custom design and manufacturing of a third garden gate that we constructed out of left over reclaimed wood used throughout the project. We borrowed some design elements from the authentic salvaged wooden gate like the iron strap  hinges which we were able to reproduce in-house. We also, custom-designed a specific ring pull we found in a rustic architectural book from Tuscany. A European roller latch and mortise lock mechanism was used and it made the gate look, feel and function exactly like a real gate pulled out of a historical European countryside home.

As you can see, Dynamic Garage Door specializes in authentic architectural door design reaching the true and authentic styles inherited by the Europeans. If you're looking for authentic rustic design with architectural-correctness then give us a call at: (855) 343-3667

Handmade Reclaimed Wood Garage Door

Los Angeles, CA - This custom wood garage door was handsomely crafted in reclaimed barn wood that was salvaged from a centuries old barn. Each plank that went on the rustic garage door was hand selected to have that rich silvery look required for this custom European home project with a few boards featuring some brown streaks for an authentic aged look. The beautiful beam above the barnwood garage door opening is an actual reclaimed solid piece of lumber and not just a veneer! The three section garage door rolls up in section to the overhead so as much as it is rustic and Old World looking is it easily operated with a modern electric motor. The simple barn-like design of the garage door ties in well with home's rustic European architectural style.

Our custom reclaimed wood garage doors may look authentically antique but are conveniently operated at the push of a button. We hand pick the salvaged lumber we use to ensure proper coloration, structure and durability. As a precaution we treat all of our reclaimed wood garage doors with anti mildew and critter solvents that protect and preserve the salvaged wood without compromising the look or coloration of the wood. This means you don't have to worry about termite infestations that we've sen on projects done by others where reclaimed wood was introduced without being treated and caused big termite problems! Old doesn't mean inefficient, our custom reclaimed wood garage doors are fully insulated so you do get the insulation value required in most modern day construction projects.

Blue Architectural European Shutters

Long Beach, CA - Exterior window shutters are a key architectural element that can enhance, accentuate or define the style of a home. Using the correct proportions, colors and decorative hardware will ensure the proper aesthetic outcome.

For this rustic European style home in Long Beach we created outstandingly beautiful shutters that convey a charming historical appeal. Each decorative shutter was meticulously handcrafted and wire-brushed to bring out that rustic grain texture of the cedar wood. The realistic decorative shutter hardware was handmade by our in-house blacksmiths while, both, the shutters and hardware were beautifully finished in a rich blue color that adds a fabulous contrast to the home's earthy plastered walls and authentic European stone walls. Our custom shutters, as you can see, are the perfect contrasting complement that bring life to the home's curb appeal. The beauty of our custom-made shutters and hardware is the aging process they'll go through. Over the years, decades the elements will bring out natural surface rust on some of the hardware and the touch of nature will give the shutters a washed appearance that will further enhance that Old World authenticity. These natural results are not a flaw or problem but rather marks of beauty that add that spectacular patina we often see and admire in real European historical countryside homes.

There are many reasons why Dynamic Garage Door shutters are highly acclaimed for luxury home remodels and new construction, perhaps too many to list but take a look at our shutter galleries and other projects so you can see the difference we offer as the leaders in the custom door industry.

European Designer Shutter Hardware

Los Angeles, CA - Part of a custom shutter's charm comes from the decorative iron hardware selected. This blue European style shutter design was handsomely accentuated with decorative iron hinge straps and shutter dogs. These elements are handcrafted with the highest craftsmanship standards possible to capture that authentic Old World look.

As one of the nation's leading custom wood and gate garage door company we've actually achieved renowned door projects that also include decorative exterior shutters. We apply the same architectural understanding of Old World European architecture and craftsmanship style.

These gorgeous blue shutters were exquisitely finished in a deep blue color that was soaked up by the hand wire-brushed cedar grain further accentuating the rustic, aged look of the wooden shutters. Adding decorative iron straps that were hand-forged much in the same way it has been done in Europe for centuries added that realistic appearance that make our custom shutters so beautiful and highly desirable for custom home renovations and new constructions. This country European style home in the Los Angeles region called out for highly detailed architectural elements and so we were commissioned, in addition to the garage doors and garden gates, to custom design and manufacture complementing architectural shutters that would add richness and authentic European design to the home's finishing touches.

Let our in-house designers celebrate your personal taste for authentic architectural design and discerning understanding of quality create the most amazing window shutters you have ever seen!

Salvaged Architectural Gate Retrofit

Los Angeles, CA - Reusing salvaged architectural elements such as doors, gates and hardware can have a rewarding effect on the curb appeal of a home. This custom retrofitted wooden gate came from a European salvage yard where the client secured and imported the piece to the U.S. specifically for this custom home build. The gorgeous wood shows decades of aging and elemental craftsmanship that gives it its unique character. The gate itself came with the attached iron hinges which are no longer operable but serve an exquisite aesthetic purpose. The mortise lever lock set was sourced from a local French hardware dealer in Corona del Mar, CA which we found complete with skeleton keys. This was a unique and beautiful touch by the client, we just helped with the retrofit and bringing life back to a salvaged gate in a new location.

An Authentic Salvaged European Gate

Long Beach, CA - Adding a salvaged architectural garden gate to your home can give it that unique touch that adds character and beauty to the curb appeal of your home. As part of a larger project for this European country style home we retrofitted several salvaged architectural gates that were modified and installed to fit in their new home. This particular gate is a reclaimed wood slatted design featuring vertical planking on the front and horizontal planking on the back. The back of the gate as seen in this photo shows the elemental construction of the antique gate with the nails bent over the slats for structural strength and durability. The years of exposure to the elements are immediately obvious by the aging of the wood and layers of rust formed around the nails and hardware. To complete the installation we sourced out an authentic French mortise and lever lock set with its original skeleton keys. The gate is fully functional and a salvaged architectural piece that added character to the home's curb appeal.

Genuine Architectural European Gate

Los Angeles, CA - The passage way custom iron gate featured here is an actual salvaged European architectural iron gate completely handcrafted and reconfigured to fit its new home. When looking closely at the details of the gate you would notice that the decorative iron pieces are put together with wire ties as in the time it was built welding was not available. When our in-house blacksmiths received the gate for modifications they were immediately impressed with the uniqueness of the piece and its authenticity. Since the client found the piece without posts, working hinges or latches, our team immediately got to work designing and crafting the missing elements that made the installation of the gate seamless. Walking into the passage you would think the gate had been there for centuries!
